Baby Shower Gift Tips

By Brenna A. Welker

Baby showers are happy dates for the expectant mom. For this event, the gifts that you will bring need to be those that are more important for the baby than for the mom.

You can give toys, furniture, accessories or clothes. All these just need to keep the baby as well the mother in mind. To help you choose, here are a few things that you can do in order to be able to come up with the perfect baby shower gift.

Try and do the age old research-before-you-buy-method. This is a proven way to give you an opportunity to buy the best gifts only and not those which can just be considered a waste of time or money, or both.

Think of gifts that they don’t already have in the house. Or, you may give those that are far better than what they already have. There are state of the art baby walkers and strollers that may be a little pricey but they will be very important for the expectant mother and the whole family. If you have a sizeable budget for a gift, this will be the perfect one you can give. There are different designs that you can choose from.

But above the design, you should prioritize its functionality. Strollers or walkers with effective locks are on top of the list. Those that have good cushion and foam parts are also important.

There are also mothers which use a registry system. This is the store’s method wherein the mother will make a list of the things that she has or would like to have for her baby when he or she arrives. The list will be your best friend so that you will not have a hard time thinking about what to give. However, this would mean that your options will be limited. But, do not be disheartened by this process.

For example, if the mother lists baby clothes, you can be a little more creative on the clothes that you will give. To stay away from the usual light pinks, blues or yellows for baby clothes, you can go for black baby clothes. These will be unusual yet they are still usable for the baby. But first, you need to make sure that the family approves of such gifts. If you know that the parents once used to be or are still punks at heart, you will be safe with your choice.

The gifts that you will give should not only be unusual to be remembered, they can also be personalized.

There are a lot of items that can be customized with the baby’s name, for example. You may even be able to print out the baby’s face on a shirt, a pillow case or on a mug if you want to. Also consider the baby’s sex in order for your gift to be more appropriate.

Of course, you can still stick to the most common gifts for babies–toys. With this alternative you will never run out of choices.
