By Melody N. Andes

Are you aware of the prevalence of toxic toys in the market? If so, read this article to avoid buying these toys and to ensure the health and safety of your children.

As a parent, it is your duty to protect and to ensure the health and welfare of your toddlers. When buying these toys, the first thing that you should consider is to buy those which are risk-free and safe from all forms of toxic and hazards. As you drive in stores and you can see endless supply and selection of toys waiting for your purchase.

To ensure the safety of your toddlers, do not just buy anything that attracts your fancy, but you should conduct your research and inquiry on the credentials and attributes of the toys in your list. Remember that there is nothing wrong with being inquisitive and meticulous when it comes in ensuring the welfare of your child. More so, you should not be attracted on the colorful packaging, convincing advertisements and claims of artists and celebrities because they are not guarantee that these products are safe from any toxic chemicals.

Bear in mind that there are thousands of children being hospitalized for lead poisoning, choking of small parts, bruises and cuts due to low quality toys purchased by their parents.

Below are a few tips on how to choose risk-free toys for toddlers:

1. Be sure to search and to buy toys specifically designed and suitable for their age. Do not buy toys which do not belong to their age group or those which are advanced for their age.

2. Avoid buying toys which are made of very small parts because there is a tendency that these parts will break and loose easily, thereby posing a choking hazard to your child. Avoid buying toys which are not made from quality, high grade and safe plastics because some of them break off easily once dropped by your child.

3. When buying stuffed toys, be sure these toys are made from non-toxic materials, machine washable and made from flame resilient materials and parts.

4. Be sure to buy toys which are lead free. Make it a habit to read product labels to ensure that the toys’ components are made from non-toxic materials. Be inquisitive and do your own research to assess the reputation of the manufacturer.

5. Do not buy toys which chips, breaks and paints off easily.

6. Avoid buying toys which have strings, cables and wires to avoid strangulation in children.

7. When buying toys, be sure that the item you purchased rightfully fits the personality, behavior and temperament of your child.

8. Be on the look out for the availability of ecological friendly toys which are being promoted nowadays. These toys are good for your toddlers especially to those who have allergies of some sorts.

9. Do not buy gadgets which are complicated to play or which contains complicated parts.

10. Be sure to follow the suggestions and instructions found in the packaging to ensure the correct usage of these toys.

These tips and suggestions ensure the safety and health of your toddlers.
